FallingCards

Projection Mapping Installation

October 2017

FallingCards is a foam core prototype for a projection mapped casino installation, where the piece would be surrounded by glitzy gold and silver chandeliers and the sounds of bells, whistles, and money echoing throughout the space. Each card is randomized from a deck, with a select few chosen to display video loops from a set of clips.

The Installation

The actual installation is envisioned to be a full wall of 52 cards (a full deck) “falling” from the top of a wall down to the floor, while the prototype displayed is half of a deck of cards at miniature scale.

As a prototype, the miniature scale version can easily be moved and installed into a space to test the viability of a larger, more permanent installation. For special occasions and throughout the seasons, the animations could be easily modified to correspond with the occasion; for example falling shamrocks for St. Patrick’s Day, pouring champagne into glasses for New Years, and falling leaves or snow for fall or winter.
