HollyJollyPhotos

Kinect-based Processing Installation

December 2017

HollyJollyPhotos is an interactive photobooth installation which uses a Microsoft Kinect to allow users to manipulate their photos like a postcard and upload them to social media.

Involvement: Coding in Processing (Java-based), OpenKinect libraries, Twitter API

The Experience

Designed as a photo booth, the user has the opportunity to select a few props and costume items to dress themselves up, strike a pose as the screen counts down, and then customize their photo using various seasonal-themed digital stickers.

Using one hand, the user moves the cursor around the screen. By using a second hand, the user can “click” to select an option and place it on their image. The user can then choose for the image to be uploaded publically to Twitter immediately!
